SUMMARY:Navigating the Divide: On-Prem vs Cloud Security
DESCRIPTION:This inaugural event\, organized by Armada Innovation Labs and led by Dean Armada\, AWS Security User Group leader\, was hosted at the AWS Office in Bonifacio Global City\, Taguig\, Philippines.  The interactive sessions and intense  discussion showcased the practical applications of AWS security services in safeguarding critical infrastructure and data. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nThe event commenced with an introduction by Kate Villoria of AWS\, who co-organized the event and discussed this new organization’s (AWS Security User Group) focus on holding events twice a quarter with diverse formats designed to promote learning and awareness in cloud security. \nThe event facilitated a technical discussion comparing Cloud Security with On-Premises Security. Dean Armada personally utilized the entire whiteboard wall to explain technologies including switches\, routers\, Next generation Firewalls (NGFW)\, Next Generation IPS (NGIPS)\, and advanced solutions such as application load balancers\, WAF\, NDR\, XDR\, and others relevant to on-premise environments\, demonstrating various security implementation strategies. \n \nWiSAP (Women in Security Alliance Philippines)\, our collaborative partner\, delivered a presentation during the event. Following this\, Dean continued the whiteboard discussion\, emphasizing cloud fundamentals and comparing security practices. He introduced AWS security services including AWS WAF\, GuardDuty\, Security Hub\, and more in contrast to on-premises environments\, concluding the session with comprehensive coverage across the whiteboard wall. \n \nTo add to the engagement\, a short game was included\, offering swag and giveaways to the winners.
